Movie Review: Artificial Intelligence: AI (2001)

[The Metropolis Times] (although this was completely missed by normally perceptive Roger Ebert) David, a realistic "super toy" makes a journey to change from a robot to a "real boy." In order to become human, he must develop human flaws. After all, "if he was created to love, then it's reasonable to assume he knows how to hate."

Robots develop more teamwork skills, humans still unwitting conspirators

[Engadget] Following recent developments in robot cooperation between virtual bots, AIBOs and military bots, researchers at Örebro University in Sweden have created yet more progenitors of our future overlords that can get buddy buddy with each other. These bots work by tapping into each others sensors and computers, allowing them to perform tasks that they otherwise wouldn't be able to do on their own, such as navigating past difficult obstacles -- a door, for instance.

My Life As a Robot

[Digital Digressions] The caption reads, “If a pretty poster and a cute saying are all it takes to motivate you, you probably have a very easy job, the kind robots will be doing soon.” Besides saying “nyah nyah” to the superiors who never stay in my cubicle long enough to read the caption, I more or less believe what the poster says. My job is very easy.
