Artificial Life: what is it to AI?
[The AI Project] Apparently AL is "proving" that, given a system with a given set of inputs and a given set of outputs, if one can express a goal based on a measure of the system's outputs, i.e. Goal(Measure(Outputs(Inputs))), then evolutionary computation can grow the system's structure towards a mechanism capable of reaching the goal (exactly to what extent evolution can build such a system, and under what conditions, is still a hot research topic).
