Kybernetica.com > Abyss Monster AI: A Re-imagining of UO's Artificial Life Engine?
[Ultimate Online Forums] Hello All - I was doing a bit of casual wiki reading and stumbled across this paragraph under Ultima Online's entry: “Artificial Life Engine Starr.

[Straight Dope Message Board - Cafe Society] Spielberg Explains Ending of A.I. Artificial Intelligence ...: To be honest, the ending as filmed actually chokes me up, mostly because I'm a sucker for characters that give in to their flaws in the end (it's Shakespearean tragedy with less death and more anthropomorphic robots!)It also has one of the most bittersweet scores I've heard, one that only amplifies the feeling that David may finally be happy...
[KultureDrome] KultureDrome: I Want to Kiss Your Apocalypse: The Bizarro World planet is square, baseball players hit the bat with the ball, failure is the highest possible achievement, monsters are hailed as heroes, every building is crooked except the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the U.S. flag is hung upside down, etc.
[RW Ridley] In the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer's voice, I'd just like to say ...: The stomach problems are gone. The fatigue is gone, no headaches, etc. At one point in my life I suffered from life-stopping migraines. Im wondering now if those migraines could have been Sucralose related. I tweaked and altered my diet until the migraines were no longer a problem. I suppose its possible that I could have unknowingly reduced my consumption of Sucralose in the process.
[ai.rs blog] HTC Leo - review, photos, screenshots | ai.rs blog: A battery life comparison between a GSM diamond and a GSM Pro 3 or a CDMA Diamond and a CDMA Pro3 would be great and some photos or video comparing the two screens in use would be great as well! Perhaps a video of more side by side comparisons of the top, sides and bottom would be nice as well.
[Gamasutra.com - All Blogs] Gamasutra: Jose Joao Proenca's Blog - 1.5 Player Games - Bonding ...: Chacha, the companion in Monster Hunter Tri, is another one I'm having fun with: in a game completely about solitary hunting (or with other human hunters), Chacha is great company with his little dances and comments, helping a lot in gameplay also by distracting monsters, gathering some items on his own, and even doing a bit of damage. Since you can assign different combinations of dances (support abilities) and masks (stats), you've got a nice combination of user development in an RPG system and quite a bit of spirited and fitting cheerfulness.
[KultureDrome] KultureDrome: The Eyeless Automaton: The Stepford Wives, which begins with the ironic foreshadowing of a man awkwardly carrying a naked mannequin down a Manhattan street, makes much more overt references to Hoffmann's eyeless doll. As a number of critics were quick to point out, while it is difficult to gauge the sincerity of the film's satirical, political intent (is it a stab at misogynist male fantasy, or a poke at mainstream feminist paranoia?), the outcome of The Stepford Wives is very predictable.
[天山游å] No Silver Bullet: Essence and Accidents of Software Engineering ...: How much more gain can be expected from the exploding researches into better programming environments? One's instinctive reaction is that the big-payoff problems-- hierarchical file systems, uniform file formats to make possible uniform program interfaces, and generalized tools--were the first attacked, and have been solved.
[OneHealthyGirl.com - Carla Golden's Get Healthier! Blog] OneHealthyGirl.com - Carla Golden's Get Healthier! Blog: FOOD ...: In the store, look for more natural versions of the processed products you wish to eat which may use natural colorings instead of artificial ones. It's best if the ingredient label lists the actual natural colorings (such as caramel coloring, annatto, chlorella algae, cochineal(insect), betanin (beets), turmeric, saffron, paprika, or elderberry juice) rather than the ubiquitous "natural coloring"
[Sentient Developments] Sentient Developments: The Real Way to Feel Safe with Artificial ...: We have plenty of evidence that human-like minds will be the output of specific kinds of evolutionary processes (the one which has historically played out on this planet). To say that all points within the vastly larger space of possible digital-computer based intelligences will converge toward the same solutions which evolution coughed up is to make an unwarranted generalization.
[NONE SO BLIND - BLOG] = NONE SO BLIND =: I encounter this viewpoint bruisingly whenever I post on the website opednews.com a piece that is premised on the idea that Obama might be a valuable instrument of achieving much good. I don’t know if they’re indicative of the audience as a whole, but a great proportion of those who comment on such pieces are people who sneer at Obama, who’s just another corporatist that’s conned the people with that “Change You Can Believe In”
[All Hallows Eve Information Blog] How To Throw A Halloween Party « All Hallows Eve Information Blog -: If you can find some of those life-like fake rats, grab a few and put them in wonderful places like inside the refrigerator. [The Raw Story] The Raw Story » Federal Reserve rejects request for public review: The Fed was deliberately designed to appear as a sort of government body to hide the fact that it is a private banking cartel whose member banks share in the vast profits of seigniorage (i.e., the difference between the cost of printing/minting or otherwise creating money [a few cents per $100], and its face value). Yes, the Department of the Treasury does still mint our coins (at the US mint) but that represents under 1% of the US money supply, the great bulk of which is simply bankbook entries - electronic keyboard impulses in computer memories - created by banks on-the-spot to fund loans they make in response to loans applications their "customers" submit (hence the competition by banks for your loan applications and credit card borrowing).

[Gamasutra.com - All Blogs] Gamasutra: Dave Mark's Blog - AI and MMOs - The Controversy: So rather than building a character or team to face a challenge, all you're doing is adjusting it on the fly, the nature of the two require entirely different rationales (not to mention an FPS is far more subject to actual player skill to overcome clever AI, which is a balancing factor in and of itself that is less prevalent in RPGs). Also my AI-class alteration comment holds true even for TF2, if we alter the AI of one class in such a way that it is now capable of taking apart a class it couldn't before (so in a rock/paper/scissors scenario this is like rock all of a sudden being able to win against both paper and scissors), then something needs to be changed to balance this out (the addition of another class or the alteration of another).
