[Qualia.information-theory.net] Qualia: The appeal, I suppose, is that it provides a dependent variable which has the potential to not only change cognition, but also brain activity. Controlled variables make me (and others) much more happy than the types of correlations that come along with studying gender, race, education, and all those other hairy variables that may potentially influence cognition, but which we have no ability to manipulate.
