[Gridblog.com] Upcoming Events: ...Grid computing is a set of standards and technologies that academics, researchers, and scientists around the world are developing to help organizations take collective advantage of improvements in microprocessor speeds, optical communications, raw storage capacity, and the Internet. By using the technique to disaggregate their computer platforms and distribute them as network resources, companies can vastly increase their computing capacity. For example, companies are using grid computing to accelerate the pace of drug development, process complex financial models, and animate movies.

Gene researchers have embarked on a new field of research, called epigenomics, to determine whether genes are in the on or off position. This type of marker could prove an important diagnostic or therapeutic tool for all types of cancer. "At Johns Hopkins, researchers are performing clinical trials on about 15 patients with leukemia and other cancers to fin...
[Runningscared.org] Running Scared: It represents the complete and utter failure of diplomacy and all other forms of civilized conflict resolution. A pre-emptive war must be the very last choice, only to be entered into after long, sober consideration. It must be embarked upon only with a broad base of consent among our global neighbors after we jointly reach the sad conclusion that there is simply no other choice, and that we face a clear and present danger to the rest of the world."
